The Turkish Blind Football National team will be defending their title at the IBSA Blind Football European Championships this summer. With the 1-0 victory over Russia in the final in the 2015 edition of the championships in Hereford. This summer Turkey will definantly be the team every team is looking to beat!

Turkey: The team to beat

Their journey to the final in Hereford wasn’t plain sailing however, having drawn their opening game to Germany in 2015, and consequently defeating Poland convincingly 6-0, Turkey then lost to England 2-1 in their final group game. Although the disappointment of defeat the team moved onto the semi finals and squeezed past Spain in a penalty shootout. Following this, they went on win the final and be crowned European Champions.

Having being crowned European Champions Turkey returned from the Rio Paralympic games in 2016 with some somewhat disappointing set of results having not recorded a win for the tournament. Nonetheless, they will take some positives having drawn with the eventual silver medalists, Iran.

Focussed on Berlin

The Turkish national team will look to be back to winning ways when they step onto the turf in Berlin.

With the tournament under 150 days away, the Turkish team are starting to add their final and finishing touches to their game in preperation to win back to back championships. They will be up against tough opposition including Germany who will be playing in the opening game following the opening ceremony on 18th August.
